What's Inside the Class?

Projects you'll paint

You'll explore the magic of watercolor through six essential techniques—each one taught step-by-step with guided swatches to build confidence and control. From wet on wet to glazing, you’ll see how each technique comes to life on paper.

Then, in the final lesson of the course, you'll bring everything together to paint a full landscape—your first completed scene using the skills you've gained along the way. It’s a satisfying moment of transformation: from individual brushstrokes to a finished piece you’ll be proud to share.

What techniques are taught

Watercolor has a language of its own—and in this course, you’ll learn to speak it fluently. We’ll break down six core techniques that form the foundation of beautiful watercolor painting:

  • Wet-on-Wet – Create soft blends and dreamy textures by painting onto damp paper.
  • Wet-on-Dry – Gain crisp, clean edges and more control by working on dry surfaces.

  • Flat Wash – Master even color coverage for skies, backgrounds, and more.
  • Graded Wash – Learn to fade colors smoothly from dark to light
  • Lifting – Discover how to lighten or remove paint for highlights and corrections.
  • Glazing – Layer transparent color to build depth, shadow, and subtle shifts in tone.

These essential techniques will become your go-to tools as you grow your skills—and you’ll get hands-on practice with each before using them in your final landscape project.
